Twenty-one visits were made and thirty-five species were seen. Coot and Moorhen numbers remained fairly constant with 12 and 13 seen respectively.
Already by February 29th a Coot was nest building. A Water Rail was regular along the channel. One or two Cormorants were seen occasionally. Up to 60 Black-headed Gulls were present on the pools up until mid-March A Kingfisher was seen two or three times. A Peregrine Falcon flew over in February and up to three Red Kites flew over in March. A Grey Wagtail was seen frequently amongst the rubbish on the dump. Up to two Chiffchaffs were seen during the period and a Blackcap on one occasion. In the shrubs Redwings were regular with a maximum of 20 seen.
